The IU Art Museum is making some changes, but this time they’re in personnel, not galleries. \n Paul Sturm has come to the IU Art Museum as the new associate director for development. Sturm served as vice president of business development for TechSkills LLC, according to an IU Art Museum press release. Sturm will lead the museum’s strategic advancement programs. \nSturm has specialized in the development of financially self-sustaining learning programs and entrepreneurial ventures dedicated to advancing the relevancy and responsiveness of education and training, according to the press release. His recent work has focused on the effective management and valuation of employee development and workforce education.\nIn his new position as associate director for development, Sturm will be responsible for the Art Museum’s annual giving program, major and planned gifts, and endowments to the IU Art Museum, as well as funding support for special projects, according to the press release. \n“The Art Museum is one of Indiana University’s flagship assets,” Sturm said, in the press release. “The staff, from director Gealt through the team of curators, are active contributors to advancing visual art scholarship on a global arena with original research and publications rich in insights and of the highest production values. I’m very pleased to have this opportunity to help current and future friends of the IU Art Museum strengthen the mission and impact of this great museum through the development of contributions, gifts, and structured financial growth.”\nSturm was a student at IU in the 1970s and worked at WFIU, the public radio station, from 1975-1988, according to the press release. He was station manager of the public radio station WUCX in Bay City, Michigan from 1988-1996. In 1996, Sturm moved to Tucson, Ariz., and turned his professional focus to corporate training. His positions included work as a senior project manager and executive consultant with Pima Community College and president of a national training company, ITCAP, from 1999-2006.\n“Paul Sturm brings a broad range of experience, as well as a genuine passion for the arts and a longstanding affection for the Art Museum,” Adelheid M. Gealt, director of the IU Art Museum, said in the press release. “I’m delighted that he has joined our team and really look forward to working with him.”
