Coming around to a Clinton vice presidency

As an ardent Obama supporter, I was hoping Clinton would concede last night. But she didn’t. And I think we all know what she’s holding out for. So let’s consider the possibility of throwing her the vice presidency.\nPolitical Theory 101: The vice president should balance out the weaknesses of the presidential candidate in an effort to capture as many votes as possible. Common sense. Unfortunately, Obama and Clinton ran on practically identical platforms. Now let’s consider who we’re up against. Grandpa McCain is touting his war-mongering military experience and running on the premise of fear. So naturally, a practical Obama VP would be someone with strong military and foreign affairs credentials. Personally, I’ve always thought Joe Biden or Wes Clark would fit nicely.\nBut in this most unusual of primaries, the Democratic demographics split with clearly drawn lines. Obama got young voters, African Americans, urban dwellers, and professionals. Clinton took older, working class, rural voters and Hispanics – 18 millions of them strong. What I want to know is, who else do we need? Clinton might mirror Obama’s policy objectives, but together they form the most formidable opponent to the extreme right that has hijacked the GOP. Not to mention together they can carry some of the all too important swing states like Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Florida.\nIt’s time to move forward, the primaries are over and we need to focus on November. Let’s put this intra-party bickering aside and come together in our common goal. Uniting this ticket is uniting the party.
