Democrats for change

Primary season is one filled with uncertainty. Are you a Democrat, Republican or Independent? After you decide to identify with a party, you must wade through the voting records and media spin on the candidates of that party to decide who will receive your precious vote. And if this was not enough uncertainty, you must wait and hope that others in states far from you have given their votes to your choice candidate. \nAmong all of these decisions, one choice is clear. You need to vote, and vote Democratic.\nThe 2008 presidential primaries are part of a process that will bring great change to not only American politics, but to our nation as a whole. You have a chance to be a part of this change by voting for a Democratic candidate. Even with their differences, all of the Democratic candidates know that it is time for America to turn the page on what has been seven years of inept leadership by the Bush administration. Change is not a Democratic campaign buzzword; it is something that will occur through prudent implementation of policy by a Democratic president and a strengthened congress. \nYour vote for a Democratic president and congress allows you to have a voice in what you believe needs to change in America. Democrats acknowledge our nation’s problems and seek proactive ways to remedy them. Do you want America to rebuild relationships with valuable allies by responsibly leaving a war that we cannot win? Do you want health care and educational systems that will give equal treatment to all American citizens? Democrats will seek the best solutions to these complex issues and will pass legislation that will bring concrete change where it is so needed.\nIn addition to action on the most pressing issues facing our nation, Democrats will protect the rights and equality of all Americans. Unlike many Republican counterparts, Democrats will not allow their religious faith to guide their policy making. If you are a woman who wants control over your body, or are gay and want to enjoy the benefits of marriage, you’d better be voting for Democrats. Democratic leaders will let their faith be an influence, but they will craft policy based on what is best for all Americans. \nIn a time of many choices, you are given one clear answer: Vote Democrat. Your Democratic vote is your great opportunity to elect representatives who will guide America in the right direction. Democrats will work to ensure that you and your posterity live in an environment that has been protected by investment in alternative fuel and pollution reduction, and in a nation that will be able to provide you with healthcare when you retire with your IU degree. Well, that is as long as you vote Democrat while you are still at IU.
