A 22-year-old Bloomington man was robbed Friday morning while walking back to his home.\nAt around 3:55 a.m., the victim was walking to his residence in the 400 block of East Ninth Street when a man grabbed him by the right shoulder and said, “Give me your wallet,” Bloomington Police Department Sgt. The victim didn’t see a weapon but told officers the suspect made a motion toward his back as if he had a weapon, Canada said. The victim received scrapes to his arm and hand but did not require any medical attention.\nThe suspect was described as being about 5-foot-6, 160 pounds, in his mid-20’s and wearing a black jumpsuit with a hat or mask.

BPD arrests pair at home for theft, outstanding warrants

A Bloomington man and woman were arrested Thursday night after officers learned they both had warrants out for their arrest.\nAaron Swank, 33, faces preliminary charges of possession of stolen property and failure to register as a sex offender. Shelly Wright, 39, faces preliminary charges of false informing.\nBloomington Police Department Officer Dana Runnebohm was investigating another case that led her to question Swank, BPD Sgt. Jeff Canada said. After running his name, Runnebohm learned he had a warrant for his arrest for failing to register as a sex offender. Officers made contact with Swank at his residence and got permission to go into his trailer, which he shared with Wright, Canada said.\nOfficers questioned Wright, who first gave a false name. After giving officers her real name, they learned she had two warrants out for her arrest for violation of probation. Wright told officers she was on the run, Canada said.\nWhile looking around, BPD Officer Amy Romoser noticed a purse that did not belong to anyone in the trailer, Canada said. Romoser checked the ID in the purse and learned it was reported stolen to the IU Police Department, Canada said. Swank told officers he did not know how the purse got there because so many people come in and out of his trailer, Canada said.\nSwank and Wright were arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail.
