Kiss my (cigarette) butt

A Facebook group, "Please ban smoking on IU's campus," wants to get smoking\nbanned on IU's campus and has now attracted more than 1,200 people,\naccording to a Sept. 27 Indiana Daily Student article.\nMembers of the group believe smokers shouldn't be allowed to smoke on\ncampus. On its site, it states that they "cannot legally ban smoking on the\nsidewalks of Bloomington city-controlled streets, so these would basically function as the 'designated smoking areas' and should more than suffice for smokers."\nSeveral other groups have been created on Facebook to protest the group's\ndesire to ban smoking on campus. One group, called "Please Ban the Please\nBan Smoking on IU's Campus group, "has nearly 100 members. This group's\nmessage is that "if a puff of cigarette smoke causes you to spontaneously\ncombust, then smokers are the least of your worries."\nThe main problem I have with this anti-smoking group is that it wants\nstudents to stop smoking on campus and smoke next to the city streets\ninstead. This would obviously create problems when thousands of students\nflee to streets to smoke and fill all of the city's sidewalks with smoke.\nMembers of this group obviously don't care about the citizens of Bloomington. They are too selfish to care about whether or not the people of\nBloomington have to breathe second-hand smoke and are just blowing smoke up\ntheir own asses.\nIf they want to ban smoking on campus for being unhealthy, then they should\npropose to ban all the unhealthy foods on campus because they're much less\nhealthy than breathing in a little smoke here and there. People have the\nright not to breathe other people's smoke, but smokers have the right to\nsmoke outside. I can understand people getting upset with breathing smoke\nwhen they are in buildings they are required to be in, but the 30 feet\nnonsmoking perimeter rule already in place at IU should take care of this.\nPerhaps the rule should be enforced better, but that shouldn't give a\nselfish group the right to try and get a campus-wide ban. I don't ever\nremember reading in the U.S. Constitution that you have the right to take others' rights away.\nI am more concerned about my auditory health. If they are going to propose\ndesignated areas for smoking, then the same should be done for all of the\nrich chicks who yell "Oh my God!" into their cell phones every five seconds.\nI propose that they be a thousand yards from the school, please.\nIn the grand scheme of things, it doesn't seem very likely that a\ncampus-wide ban would actually take place at IU, considering how large this\ncampus is. But when groups like this get attention, anything is possible. If\nthis group was demanding that the 30-feet rule be enforced, then I would\napplaud. However, taking a fascist approach is never something to applaud if you are concerned with people's rights.
