Safia Lakhany, a member of the Pakistani Student Association and the Muslim Student Union, recently helped play host to a charity fashion show with other members of the PSA for the victims of the earthquake that hit India and Pakistan.\nAs an apparel merchandising major, this senior was able to use her trendy expertise to help the association put on a fashion show with everything from cultural apparel and music to choreographed dances and instruments. \nWhen Lakhany isn't working at becoming the next big-wig fashion designer, here's what this Indiana native is in to:\n
Food
\nFor something quick, she heads to any Bloomington SUBWAY for a turkey sub with light mayo.\n"Lunch is my favorite time to eat because it helps me fuel up for the day. I know I will have the rest of the day to burn it off."\nBut just like the majority of college students, Lakhany enjoys binging on snacks with friends into the wee hours of the night. Her junk food of choice? Milk and cookies.\nHer favorite ethnic restaurant is Anyetsang's Little Tibet Restaurant, 415 E. Fourth St., where she religiously orders the green curry chicken. \n
TV & Movies
\nShe never really got into the reality TV scene, and instead remains hooked to shows from her teen years, such as "The Cosby Show" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." Her up-to-date television picks include Showtime's dramatic series "Sleeper Cell" and Fox's "The OC."\n"I like to watch TV and movies mostly at night when I am more relaxed and don't have much energy. It's easier to watch other people and not put any effort into anything."\nSome of her favorite movies include "Mean Girls", "The Notebook" and "Old School." "Or anything that's a chick-flick."\n
Music
\nThere isn't one genre of music she prefers to another. \n"I like all types of music, and I go through phases when I like a certain song. I like to listen to it on repeat over and over and over."\nLakhany can often be found listening to the latest tunes on her silver iPod when she is on the bus, walking to class, working out or stuck at the airport.\nSome of her favorite artists and groups include Hernan Cattaneo, DJ Tiesto, ATB, Coldplay, Common, Jack Johnson and Sean Paul. But her all-time favorite jam is Oasis's legendary "Wonderwall."\n
Fashion
\nLakhany isn't your stereotypical apparel major, she likes to wear what is comfortable and looks good instead of what it currently trendy. Her favorite item of clothing in her closet is a pair of worn dark denim jeans, and she won't be seen without eye liner and lip gloss.\nDepending on where she is headed, it usually takes this fashion diva 30 to 45 minutes to get ready in the morning. She highly recommends dryer sheets to rid static cling in her hair or on her clothes.\nShe loves to shop for jackets. \n"You can always wear them and layer them with almost anything. I also like to buy accessories because they can dress up any outfit."\nHer least favorite item of clothing to buy? \n"Anything you buy for the weekend, because it's usually in style. Style is completely changing and then once it's outdated, you can't really wear it out again"
