Performer Stevie Jay will perform "Life, Love, Sex, Death ... And Other Works in Progress" at 8 p.m. Friday at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, 114 E. Kirkwood Ave. The show, which is free for IU students, faculty and staff, has been in development for five years.\nJay's show uses monologues, skits and observational humor to both entertain and inform the audience. He touches on subject matter to which audience members of varying ages and backgrounds can relate.\n"The show is a journey into the wild world of relationships and sex and life in our modern times," Jay wrote on his Web site. "It delves into the struggles we all go through as human beings to express ourselves honestly and passionately -- to love fearlessly and to reach out to the people we're attracted to, even when we're scared."\nThe Web site also runs letters from IU students touched by the show.\n"Stevie Jay's show ... is one of few shows that have hit me really hard," Meredith L. Brooks said in a letter. "I related to everything he had to say, but most importantly, he gave me hope and realization. I realized there are people out there wanting (a personal) connection."\nA letter from Ethan Kearns thanks Stevie Jay for the insights offered in his show.\n"Thank you a thousand times over for sharing this experience with me," the letter said. "I love you for affording me, affording all of us, the chance to peek inside the mind of a disturbingly enlightened wsojourner."\nA variety of local sponsors are contributing to the show, including the Office of the Chancellor; the Department of Theatre and Drama; the Office of Diversity Education; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Student Support Services; Residential Programs and Services and the Kinsey Institute's Sexuality Information Service for Students.\nTickets are $10 to the public not affiliated with IU.
