Broadcaster Dick Enberg to visit IU

Dick Enberg will be visiting IU to sign copies of his new book at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 26. The event will be held at the Virgil E. DeVault Alumni Center, 1000 E. 17th St. The event is free and open to all willing to come. He will give a brief address before beginning the signing of his book, "Dick Enberg: Oh My!"\nThe IU alumnus is a 12-time Emmy Award winner and has won the prestigious Sportscaster of the Year award nine times. Throughout his career, he has covered events such as the Olympics, the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Rose Bowl, Wimbledon and the NCAA Basketball Tournament. \nHe has returned to IU several times since graduating with master's and doctoral degrees in health sciences. In 2002 he was the commencement speaker at IU's graduation and in 1999 he was in town for the dedication of the Dick Enberg Distance Learning Studio at the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. \nThe studio combines the architecture of a traditional lecture hall with the capabilities of a television production studio, and it can be used to produce live one-way and two-way distance learning education programs, according to the HPER Web site.
