IU professor warns about identity theft\nIU School of Informatics researcher Markus Jakobsson said identity theft attacks could start getting even worse relatively soon. \nJakobsson, a cybersecurity expert released a report describing worst-case phishing scenarios, which eBay Inc., Chief Information Security Officer Howard Schmidt cited during a U.S. Congressional subcomittee meeting. The report has been presented to the Cyber Security Industry Alliance, based in Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Government Accountability Office.\n"I came up with the worst kind of attacks I could think of and then worked on how to defend against them," said Jakobsson, who is associate director of IU's Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research. "Phishers haven't invented these attacks yet, but the phishing attacks that are happening now are getting more and more sophisticated."

Tsunami relief fundraiser to be held in McNutt\nThe Indian Student Association and the Association for India's Development will hold the Tsunami Relief Fundraising International Dinner. The dinner will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. in the McNutt Formal Dining Hall and costs $7.

Latinos Unidos to hold 'Silent Statement' protest\nThe Latinos Unidos of IU are hoping to dispel sentiments regarding Latinos in response to a letter to the editor published in response to a column written in the Indiana Daily Student. The group will be joined by other campus organizations from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sample Gates.\n"We hope to educate on a campus wide level that we are present and to challenge individuals to dispel myths of who Latinos are," a Latinos Unidos press release stated.
