After earning its first win of the season on Friday, Indiana field hockey will look to carry that momentum into Monday’s Senior Day game against Central Michigan University in Bloomington.
The Hoosiers defeated the University of New Hampshire 4-0 at Deborah Tobias Field on Friday, scoring three goals in the first half and holding the Wildcats to one shot on goal. The win came after Indiana opened the season with consecutive one-goal losses to Miami University and the University of Louisville.
Indiana’s offense showed improvement against New Hampshire after struggling to capitalize on opportunities in its first two games. Indiana sophomore forward Celia Arroyo Cabezudo scored twice in the first quarter, bringing her season total to three goals. Freshman forward Agustina Gamonal added her first goal of the season in the second quarter, while sophomore forward Molly Stutte scored with 30 seconds remaining.
The defensive performance was equally impressive. Indiana limited New Hampshire to one shot on goal and one penalty corner throughout the game, keeping the Wildcats from creating consistent offensive pressure.
Indiana will follow this performance against Central Michigan, which has opened the season with four losses. The Chippewas fell to the University of California, Davis 2-1 in overtime before losing to the University of California, Berkeley 4-2, Stanford University 2-1 and New Hampshire 2-1.
Central Michigan’s players to watch are senior forward Cameron Pluciennik, sophomore midfielder Mora Rulli, senior defender Hailey Bainer and junior forward Carolena Ryon. Each has scored for the Chippewas in their first three games. Pluciennik and Rulli also each have an assist on the season.
Rulli enters Monday’s matchup after a strong freshman season in which she started all 19 games. She led the Chippewas with nine assists and scored four goals in 2025, earning a spot on the All-MAC Freshman Team. Rulli was also named to the 2026 NFHCA Division I Watchlist.
Monday’s game will also mark Senior Day for Indiana, giving the Hoosiers a chance to recognize their seniors while playing in front of a home crowd. The Cream and Crimson will look to build on Friday’s performance and earn their second win of the season.
Moving forward, head coach Kayla Bashore emphasized the importance of moving the ball quickly and playing as a team.
“I think it’s just playing our game,” Bashore said in a postgame interview after the New Hampshire game. “When we can play our game, I think it’s really hard to get the ball from us, which is just simple two touch hockey.”
Indiana and Central Michigan will meet at noon Monday at Deborah Tobias Field in Bloomington. The game will be streamed on Big Ten+.
