Electoral college limits votes\nIn response to one of Wednesday's articles by the IDS Editorial Board ("Keep it going" Nov. 3), I must say that you are absolutely wrong. You're missing a key point that most people look over when debating this issue: more people would vote if we abolish the Electoral College. Think about it. Before analyzing exit polls and voter turnout, it was pretty obvious that California was going to Kerry and Texas to Bush. Electoral votes for more than forty states are determined before the polls even open! I personally know many IU students that didn't bother voting in Tuesday's election; not because they didn't want their voices to be heard, but because they truly had no chance whatsoever to turn Indiana into a blue state. I'm sure this same logic was used by millions of voters across our country. If we drop this ancient concept of the Electoral College, we will undoubtedly have a much larger turnout for our next presidential election.\nTony Stroot\nSophomore

Remembering Coach Kelley\nIt saddened me to see that former IU women's soccer coach Joe Kelley passed away at the young age of 49 after battling cancer. IU women's soccer was my very first beat as a young reporter not quite sure if journalism is what I wanted to do. The very first time I met Joe he was completely opposite of what I expected from a Division I head coach. There was no ego, and he was very comforting. He was always caring and understanding with his players, regardless of the wins and losses. If Joe would have been a jerk, women's soccer not only would have been a struggle (for the players and myself), but it's safe to say I would never had stayed with journalism. I told my Bloomington North mass media students today about Joe, and used him as an example of how to treat other human beings. He was just one of those people that touched everyone in which he came in contact - on and off the soccer field. He will be missed.\nRyan Gunterman\n2002 IU alum
