IU Police Department officers responded to a call early Sunday morning about a fight involving about 20 subjects at the Indiana Memorial Union. According to IUPD reports, the incident resulted in the arrest of Rob Dubinski, an IMU security officer, for battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.\nThe incident began with units being dispatched to a fight in progress at 1:31 a.m. at a Phi Beta Sigma dance in Alumni Hall in the IMU. Witnesses said the fight was between two fraternities that were both attending the dance, IUPD reports said.\nWhen IUPD officers arrived, people had spilled into the foyer outside Alumni Hall and were yelling and screaming at each other. At the time of the incident, there were around 300 people attending the dance and about 150 more were expected to show up.\nAs 17 IUPD officers and several Bloomington Police Department officers worked to break up the fight, Sgt. Snyder talked to security officers from Graham Security, a company hired to work security for the dance. Both the Graham Security officers and the IUPD decided to shut down the dance citing the condition of the people attending the dance and the incident that had already happened, IUPD reports said.\nAt this point Dubinski shoved Sgt. Snyder and informed him that IUPD would not be shutting down the dance. Snyder then arrested Dubinski on the charges of resisting law enforcement and battery on a police officer. Dubinkski was then transported to the Monroe County Jail.
