Daylight-saving time is not some random system implemented by most states to confuse Indiana. Mitch Daniels is, in fact, on the right track by attempting to lead Indiana out of the "dark ages." Even if one ignores the fact that the time difference creates a disconnect between Indiana and various other states within our time zone, in terms of commerce and casual communication, there are legitimate health benefits associated with daylight-saving. Seasonal affective disorder, a prevalent form of depression, is theorized to be caused by a lack of exposure to daylight. While other states' citizens are rising post sunrise, and enjoying as much daylight as possible, many Hoosiers are waking in darkness. Additionally, some theories suggest that certain forms of work done during daylight hours are more efficiently and effectively completed. The sun is nature's tangible time keeper, let's let it do its thing. \nUnless, of course, people really think resetting their VCR will be an insurmountable challenge. Although Mitch Daniels may have "bigger fish to fry", Hoosiers should not pass up this exquisite sardine.
