Bloomington Playwrights Project stuffs the ballot box\nOn the tails of the national election, The Bloomington Playwrights Project, a nonprofit theater in downtown Bloomington, brings its seasonal fund raiser "Winter Ballot Box Blitz." During the event, the BPP's ensemble of artists will perform 30 ultra-short original plays. "Penis Dialogues," Bob Risher's response to the "Vagina Monologues," will be one of the plays performed.\nIn consideration of its audience, the BPP has divided the plays into three age-appropriate acts of 10 plays a piece. The first and second acts are appropriate for all ages while the third act contains adult material. Audiences will vote for their favorite plays. The "Winter Ballot Box Blitz" will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Nov. 19 and 20 at the BPP, 312 S. Washington St. Tickets are $8, but audience members can stuff the ballot box by buying additional votes for $1 each.

John Mellencamp to record televised performance\nJohn Mellencamp will record a special televised performance for Arts & Entertainment Television's "Live by Request" tonight at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Admission to the event is by private invitation only, but a special viewing of the show is taking place at 8 p.m. tonight at The City Grille, 216 S. College Ave.\nDuring the performance, Mellencamp will take song requests via a special toll free number. Fans can log onto www.livebyrequest.com to join the official live concert Web cast, e-mail song requests and post messages about the concert. Mellencamp just released a greatest hits album, his first in seven years since The Best that I Could Do (1978-1988).

Modern dance comes to Rose Firebay\nThe Rose Firebay Theater of the John Waldron Arts Center, 122 S. Walnut St., will become a dance playground this weekend when Bloomington's Windfall Dancers bring "Lost and Found" to the stage. The modern dance production will feature original choreography exploring variations of the theme "lost and found." The performances are at 7:30 p.m. today and Friday. Tickets will be available at the door for $10 for general admission and $8 for students and senior citizens.

Students show off their studios\nStudents will be showing off their artwork Friday at the Fine Arts Open Studio. Sponsored by the Fine Arts Student Association, the event allows the public to tour School of Fine Arts facilities that are not usually seen. In addition to seeing student art, viewers can participate in a Putt-Putt Extravaganza put on by Students In Design at the School of Fine Arts, Room 221. The event takes place at various locations across campus. Work will be on display from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McCalla Sculpture Center at Morgan Hall, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Old Central Stores, and from 8 to 10 p.m. at the fine arts building.

IU Swing Club dances for food\nFriday the donation of a nonperishable food item will give swing enthusiasts the opportunity to dance the night away to the sounds of the Stardusters Jazz Orchestra. The IU Swing Club is sponsoring the USO Canteen-themed event. Dancers are encouraged to wear 1940s attire. Dance for Food is 8 p.m. to midnight Friday at the Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union.
