Herbert to discuss state of University

President to give update on initiatives, clarify campus goals

IU President Adam Herbert will deliver his first State of the University address today at 2:30 p.m. in the Frangipani Room of the Indiana Memorial Union.\nHerbert is expected to discuss ways the University is "Strengthening the Foundations for Distinction" and to discuss the recent economic issues facing IU, such as the enrollment shortfalls this year.\nHerbert is also expected to update several initiatives he proposed during his inauguration in April, including clarifying the mission statements of each IU campus and expanding research in several departments, especially the life sciences and the arts and humanities.\nThe speech will also be broadcast live on WTIU Channel 30 and http://broadcast.iu.edu/. It will also be broadcast at public locations on each of IU's campuses, including Room 2140 in the School of Education building in Bloomington.
