The Shermometer says: HOT HOT HOT!

In wake of other DVD releases such as "Family Guy" and "The Simpsons," it comes as no surprise "The Critic" made its DVD debut. The short-lived cartoon series about film critic Jay Sherman can now be seen outside of its 1:30 a.m. timeslot on Comedy Central's Sunday lineup.\nThough it seems as if every film buff's wet dream has been fulfilled with the series' symphony of parody and sheer mockery, the show does not rely entirely on popular cinema as a junkie does his fix. The creators, Mike Reiss and Al Jean ("The Simpsons," "The PJs"), have established a cast of characters that allow for send-ups such as "DT: The Drunken Terrestrial" and Marlon Brando in "Apocalypse Wow!" to be nothing short of hilarious.\nAs far as special features go, the collection comes with a few of the standards, such as episode commentary from the creators and a "Creating The Critic" segment. Options to view some of the early animation processes and to watch all the trailer parodies at once are also available. \nThis collection of all 23 glorious episodes is a must have. Don't shun the loveable Jay Sherman like three major networks; rather, embrace him. If "Family Guy" can return to production because of its DVD sales, is there hope for "The Critic"
