Hoosiers head to Iowa to face top 10 teams

The IU women's field hockey team heads to Iowa City, Iowa, this weekend to face off against No. 9 Iowa and No. 1 Wake Forest. The Hoosiers (7-8, 0-5 Big Ten) will look for their first conference win of the season in their last Big Ten game against the Hawkeyes.\nThe Hawkeyes (11-5, 2-3) are led by one of the best goal scorers in the Big Ten in senior Pattie Gillern, who currently has 15 goals on the season. One bright spot for the Hoosiers is the fact that two weeks ago the Hawkeyes lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes 2-1, the exact same score as the Hoosiers loss against the Buckeyes last week. \nIU coach Amy Robertson said she believes the Hoosiers can play with anybody in the country. This weekend Robertson will see if that statement is true, as Saturday the Hoosiers will face the top-ranked team in the nation, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Demon Deacons (14-1) have outscored their opponents this year 67-8 and average almost four-and-a-half goals per game. Junior Kelly Dostal is the leading scorer for the Demon Deacons with 19 goals on the season. \nToday's match against the Hawkeyes begins at 2:30 p.m. while Saturday's match against Wake Forest begins at 1 p.m.
