Son of Farrakhan in Porter County Jail

VALPARAISO -- The 44-year-old son of Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan was arrested by the Indiana State Police this weekend following a hit-and-run accident.\nNasir H. Farrakhan, of Chicago, was being held at the Porter County Jail Sunday on probable cause for multiple charges resulting from the incident.\nThe probable cause charges are: Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of personal injury accident and possession of drug paraphernalia.\nAccording to the state police, Farrakhan was driving his 1997 Hummer east on the Indiana Toll Road in LaPorte County.\nShortly after 1 p.m. Saturday, Farrakhan struck the rear of a gold 2000 Honda passenger car driven by 73-year-old Charles Peterson of Gary. State police reports said that Farrakhan did not stop following the collision.\nFarrakhan exited the Toll Road, but was stopped by LaPorte County police.\nGladys Peterson, 62, was taken to Porter Memorial Hospital where she was treated for neck and back pain and released.\nPolice said there was about $5,000 worth of damage to Petersons' vehicle, but Farrakhan's vehicle did not sustain any noticeable damage.\nNasir Farrakhan's full name is Joshua Nasir Hussain Farrakhan. He is one of the nine children of Louis Farrakhan.
