I'm not going to write about the war. I've read about it, I've watched the continuous coverage and today I'm not going to think about it. Instead I'm going to divert my thoughts to something shallow: college burnouts. \nApril is the month where academic drive seems to go by the wayside. Call it senioritis, call it spring fever ... in military terms, call it an operational pause. There are 23 days of school left, and you simply don't want to deal with school anymore. So what do you do?\nTake your books to the following places and I guarantee you'll find some extra motivation. \nEnglish majors: Soma coffee shop. I stumbled upon this place as a freshman and if you have a paper to complete, this is the place to do it. The atmosphere is cozy, the music is good and the drinks are decent.\nBusiness majors: One word: Starbucks. I spent two hours at the Starbucks on Indiana Avenue last semester and everyone was focused. There is not a lot of room for java talk -- people go there, they get their junk done, and they leave. Also, if you're a business major you probably don't mind paying an extra quarter for the carefully crafted Starbucks logo.\nBiology majors: Lake Griffy. It's close, it's pretty and it's outdoors. Chances are if you picked biology you appreciate nature and wildlife. Lake Griffy has both. What better way to learn about aquatic ecosystems than to be able to observe the environment while you study?\nMusic majors: You could probably appreciate soundproof isolation. Try the stacks at the Main Library. There are glass rooms on the undergraduate side. Although I am unsure if instruments are permitted, I'm sure you can sneak them in.\nJournalism majors: Borders on East Third Street. You can keep up on the war while listening to the latest in music and trying to complete your statistics homework. Journalists need to be good at doing three things at once, and Borders is your place to practice.\nArt majors: I'm sure you've already discovered that we do have an art museum. And every time I've taken a shortcut through the building, it's been quiet. I'm not sure how good the artwork is, but it's probably inspiring.\nHPER majors: Visit Woodlawn Field. If you get bored while you study, you can watch people run. If you get really bored you can take a jog yourself. \nEducation majors: Peoples' Park. I've seen a lot of Bloomington high school students hang out here. I know you think you can handle your future classroom, but you may want to check out how kids have changed. No field experience can give you proper practice for what your first year is really going to be like.\nTheatre majors: I recommend the Crazy Horse on West Kirkwood Avenue. Let's be real, chances are you may have to be a server for a while until you land your dream role. The atmosphere in Crazy Horse is good, it's laid back and it's fun. If you don't like the Crazy Horse, you can always run next door to the Irish Lion. They're both great. And if you get really hungry for a good steak, Janko's Little Zagreb is around the corner.\nSo if you're feeling bored, and you need a change in scenery, check out these great places. Don't reach your senior year and realize you've never stepped outside your bubble.
