The Head of the Sakya Movement of Tibetan Buddhism will be in Bloomington this weekend. His Holiness Jigdal Dagchen Sakya Rinpoche will give teachings and hold discussions at the Tibetan Cultural Center. Students are welcome to attend. \nThe Sakya Order is one of the four major traditions of Tibetan Buddhism and was established 800 years ago. \nThe Sakya tradition emphasizes study, meditation and a close following of Buddha's teachings.\nHis Holiness Jigdal Dagchen Sakya is the guide and leader of the Sakya monasteries, dharma centers and monks worldwide. His main seat is located in Rajpur, India, but he travels across the world to direct the work of the temples and to fulfill requests for teachings.\nAt 7 p.m. Sunday, His Holiness will give a talk on "Four Contemplations that Change the Mind."\n"Lamas teach this in order to introduce the need to follow the Buddha's teaching," the Tibetan Cultural Center said. "Through reflecting upon these teachings, a person is disillusioned about the vanities and shortcomings of wandering through life after life motivated by self-interest, perceives the need for compassionate activity, and is led to training in the spiritual disciplines of Buddhism."\nJunior Kristy Brown is considering attending the Sunday night teaching.\n"I honestly don't know that much about Buddhism, but I'd like to learn," she said. "It seems to me that hearing such an important and influential person in the Buddhist world speak about what he has learned would be a really good way to learn more."\nFor more information, call the Tibetan Cultural Center at 331-0014.
