Many might know him for his "Goatboy" act or his infamous Joe Pesci impersonation. Others might have seen him on Home Improvement or spotted him in "Half Baked" or "Dick."\nIU students and Bloomington locals now have the chance to see comedian Jim Breuer on Friday, Nov. 15 at the IU Auditorium as part of his "Lighten Up Comedy Tour" that began in late 2000. Breuer's Bloomington appearance has been over a year in the planning.\nAside from his humorous antics, Union Board Comedy Director Kelli Kleindorfer said the "drought" of comedy shows that come through IU was cause for UB to approach the comedian's agents. \n"Jim Breuer always provides a quality show at a low price and we wanted to pass this opportunity to the campus," Kleindorfer said. "As soon as we found out about this opportunity, we knew we had to jump on it."\nBreuer, who spent months in the comedy club circuit in New York, got his first major start after landing a two-season spot on the nationally syndicated show, "Uptown Comedy Club." He's also appeared in a number of major motion pictures and appeared from 1995 to 1998 on "Saturday Night Live."\n"Based on our previous successes and campus interest in talent like Mr. Breuer, I am sure the show will do quite well," said Assistant Comedy Director for Concerts Adam Hitchcock. "We are very selective about what talent comes to IU. The committee is only interested in the most talented acts and Mr. Breuer more than exceeds that."\nHitchcock said Breuer has been fully dedicated to stand-up touring since he left SNL and because of his "dedication to the road," his quality show is just what UB was looking for.\n"I am very excited about this show," Hitchcock said. He also thinks Breuer's act is "a continuation of the talented acts we have brought to IU since last year."\nScott Dittmer, Union Board marketing director, said Breuer's humor will surely cause a fight to the ticket lines.\n"I'm a fan of Jim Breuer, so I'm a little biased," Dittmer said. "It will be great for IU, and with the tremendous success of the Jimmy Fallon show, it'll do excellent. There's no reason why this wouldn't sell a lot of tickets."\nKleindorfer said the ticket prices for the show are the cheapest she's seen on Breuer's tour.\n"We will have a large crowd here at IU," she said. "I would suggest getting your tickets early to get good seats. Since this is such a cheap ticket price, it wouldn't surprise me if we sold out very soon.\n"We only bring the best to this campus," Kleindorfer said. "Students will relate to his humor and walk away completely satisfied."\nTickets go on sale Wednesday at the Students Activities Desk on the first floor of the IMU, the IU Auditorium Box Office and at all Ticketmaster locations. The cost is $15 for IU students and $21 for non-students. For more information on Breuer, visit www.jimbreuer.com.
