Misogyny seems to be a word that is thrown about more and more in today's society. It is said the objectification of women leads to it, that professional sports help nourish it and conservativism is a mindset which allows it to flourish. Not only are such statements overtly condescending and anti-masculine, but it is also the end result of a liberal mindset that is so cravenly PC that the wonderful federated republic in which we live (yes, the U.S. is not a democracy) is doomed to hear such things as a growing sentiment.\nLet us cut to the chase, shall we? Most men are not misogynists -- they simply have no problem being male. Organizations such as NOW (National Organization for Women), the feminist majority, the Women's Student Association, etc. would like to impress upon the public that most (if not all) men are horrible people who are out to bend women to their whims in an effort to degrade them. The retort from the National Organization of Men, masculine majority and the Men's Student Association is...oh, wait...none of them exist. Obviously, the only gender that is organizing any sort of offensive against the other would be women. \nSuch public sentiment impresses upon the men of today's society that women, as a whole, aren't to be trusted. Though, individually, women can and are wonderful, beautiful, respectable people. But most respectable men note that women tend to have very bad judgment with regard to the men that they date. Of course, men take the blame insofar as it technically is the wrong man for that particular woman. Personally, I think there's something in the water that's exacerbating these problems. \nPerhaps there's a bit of ecstasy mixed in with the fluoride?\nFurthermore, let's look at men who are a mere 47-48 percent of the population and think about the term "jingoism." Jingoism is, according to Webster, "Extreme nationalism characterized especially by a belligerent foreign policy; chauvinistic patriotism." Nationalism is something drilled into little boys with such clever maneuvers as G.I. Joe, the Boyscouts, Grandpa's old war stories and history. \nMost men associate such militarism (which goes hand in hand with nationalism and patriotism) with glory, honor and triumph. That seems to stem from the fact that the United States has only lost one war, Vietnam, which means that the men who did live through the gore of battle came home as triumphant heroes. Is it wrong to want to experience this? No. Besides, as long as men are dying in battle, women can increase their majority (look into it, there are more women than men in this world) and vote men out of every office they hold. It could be done today.\nFinally, I'd like to suggest that it is not men who women are upset at, but women themselves. Men adored Marilyn Monroe until Twiggy and her ilk were forced upon us. Personally, most men I know enjoy women who look like women. Besides, why do you think men have dreams of depopulating whole countries at the vanguard of an army? More than likely it has something to do with winning a woman's favor as we realize that clubbing them over the head and dragging them back to the cave isn't acceptable. \nSo, ladies, before you start getting upset at men anymore than you already are, try to understand that we are simple creatures who seek women who aren't chemically, emotionally or mentally unbalanced. \nThat, my dears, is what we're fighting for.
