Condit vs. Clinton column right on the mark\nI could not agree more with Mr. Claybourn's column about Condit and Clinton ("Condit vs. Clinton," July 16). He has given a great analysis of the facts. He is right about the abuse of power, and that is what both situations are about. It couldn't have been about sex because he said it wasn't. His supporters said it was about sex, so who do you believe, him or them? Of course neither, because all of them are liars, immoral to the core. \nWith a young man like Mr. Claybourn preparing for leadership I have to say that we will be in good hands. Find others who hold your values and this nation will have a bright future indeed. A friend in Bloomington clipped the column and sent it to me.\nA Hoosier removed by 535 miles and 28 years. \nDonald E. Clem\nFairfield Bay, Arkansas\nColumn shows writer's hypocrisy\nJoshua Claybourn's editorial in the July 23 issue ("Internal Revenue Screw-up") correctly credits President Bush for providing a significant and advantageous tax relief package to the\nAmerican people. Unfortunately, Claybourn's words ring hollow as he credits and criticizes the President in the same breath.\nThis isn't the first time that Claybourn has done this. It appears as if Claybourn is too interested in appeasing his bosses at the IDS to avoid contradicting himself. Claybourn suggests that President Bush is responsible for a mailing notifying the public of when they will be receiving their tax return and costs associated with this mailer. According to him, this leads to the ridiculous implication that the President's tax relief is moot because of that mailer, which was sent and authorized by the IRS.\nIt is especially ironic to me that Claybourn serves as the Secretary of the IU College Republicans, yet he criticizes the President at every opportunity. Claybourn embarrasses me with his association with the organization and his apparent lack of respect for the President and other Republicans. Mr Claybourn, are you really a Republican, or are you one of those infamous Republicans-In-Name-Only that you have written about?\nHeather Schuh\nSenior\nGood girls really do exist\nWell after reading the article "Where have all the good girls gone?" (July 19), we were very upset with the context of this article. Good girls DO exist!!!! In fact, the two of us writing this response are among the good girls that James Boyd cannot seem to find. It seems to us that he has been looking in ALL the wrong places. For example, typical good girls will not be at Axis or Kilroy's with some guys "crotch" pressed up against (their) backsides. We are not likely to be seen at a bar every weekend. Does James think that girls only hang out at bars? NO! Look around; we are everywhere. He must not be looking hard enough. There was one paragraph in particular that really made us upset, the one that talked about how we "women tend to go for the jerks who end up abusing them." Women do not initially go for the "jerks;" they initially go for the seemingly "good guys" who turn into jerks later on. We know that "good girls" still do exist, James just seems to be looking in all the wrong places. He needs to venture out past the bars. Happy Hunting James.\nP.S.
