IU Asian Culture Center summer schedule

Annual Summer Day Camp at the ACC\nWHEN: 1 - 3 p.m, June 19 to July 19\nWHERE: Asian Culture Center, 807 E. 10th Street\nThis program offers a two-hour free workshop to children and teens who signed up in any organized summer camps in Bloomington. The workshop's objective is to promote awareness and understanding of Asian cultures through various activities such as crafts, cooking, storytelling, Asian language learning, singing, and games. The structure of these activities will be modified according to the ages of the children attending the program. There will be 10 workshops to select from this summer Tuesdays or Thursdays.\nInfo Table at the New Student Orientation 2001 Resource Center\nWHEN: 10:45 - 12:45, June 20 - July 23\nWHERE: Lobby, Main Library\nThe ACC will host an informational table for new students. This is an opportunity to answer questions and provide information about the Asian Culture Center.\nJuly 4th Parade\nWHEN: 3 p.m\nThe ACC will join the community celebration of Independence Day. Participants of the parade will be dressed in national costumes, and Asian "munchies" will be served.\nAnnual Summer Cuisine Festival: "The Politics of Cooking Rice"\nWHEN: 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, Aug. 11\nWHERE: City Hall Atrium, Showers Plaza, 401 N. Morton St.\nThis will be the ACC's third annual Summer Cuisine Festival. This program offers a free cooking demonstration and food tasting. This year it will feature the many ways of cooking rice from various Asian ethnic groups including those of China, Korea, Hmong, India, Japan, and the Philippines. \nCulturefest\nWHEN: 4 - 8 p.m. Aug. 23\nWHERE: IU Auditorium\nAs part of the Orientation Week festivities, a university-wide program called "Culturefest" will be held to welcome new and returning students. ACC will sponsor a booth with free food, interactive games and prizes. It will also host two cultural programs -- a Chinese Gongfu (Taichi Sword) demonstration and a Korean Samulnori (percussion instruments) concert.
