The Bush administration is getting harped on left and right for not doing what many Americans want. First, it's blamed for not taking enough action to prevent Sept. 11 from happening despite numerous threats. So then why are so many aggravated now because he's granting broader investigative powers to the FBI? \nTrue, the Sept. 11 attacks occurred with the majority of the wrong-doers belonging to a single ethnic group, but believe it or not, they aren't the only ones capable of such horrific crimes. Case in point: Timothy McVeigh. He's labeled as a terrorist bomber, and no one stopped him. Had the FBI been able to track his steps and others such as him, think of how many Americans could be alive and well today had different measures been in tact.\nBush has granted the FBI the right to monitor individuals with even "little or no evidence" to see if they're suspiciously researching information that could lead to any type of terrorist move. Civil libertarians feel this is an encroachment on their rights. But, if they aren't looking up how to make a bomb or the Top 10 Ways to Annihilate the U.S., then what's the problem? If you're not doing anything wrong, then why should you worry? With the new measures to further the effort to stamp out terrorism, people should feel protected -- not violated.
Don't feel violated
