I was born and raised in Indiana and now live in North Carolina. I read the paper online almost every day and usually enjoy it. Until I read Duncan Teater's piece on Bob Knight ("Knight should learn from other generals" March 19). \nThis column is biased against Coach Knight. He also makes several false statements. General McArthur was relieved from duty because he and the president were not on good terms and McArthur's health was in trouble. As for Patton, I have never seen so many false statements in my life. Aren't columnists supposed to research their pieces before doing them? Let me educate you. George Patton died in France in October of 1945 in an automobile accident. This prevented him from ever seeing peacetime, as you put in your article, or from having his request to fight in Korean War, which didn't exist in 1945.\nAs for being critical of all the Nazis, he was relieved of his post as military governor of Bavaria for being too lenient towards the Nazis. I might not agree with your opinion, but that doesn't matter. The fact is you gave out false information, and I will not stand for you doing that to two great American generals. Those men did what they did so that you and I could actually have this argument, and you have made a mockery of that. \nWith all that Knight has done for IU, you should thank him. You have no respect for those who have done things in this world. You are one, who as Kennedy would say, would ask what your country and university could do for you. I pity you. I just hope that you don't get sued for falsified information. Oh, by the way, I'm not a fifty-year-old bitter man. I'm a seventeen-year-old who knows the difference between what is right and wrong, and who knows when someone is writing something just for the attention. \nMadame Editor, please relieve this man of his duties at your paper, because he is doing a great disservice and bringing down the overall great reputation of your fine paper.
