Knight scheduled to return to Bloomington for book signing

It's not quite what hardcore Bob Knight fans had in mind, but The General will return to the home of the Hoosiers -- at least for a day.\nKnight will be in Bloomington April 7 to sign copies of his new book, "Knight: My Story," which is scheduled for nationwide release in late March.\nThe first-year Texas Tech coach, who spent 29 seasons and won three national championships at IU, wrote the book with Bob Hammel, longtime sports editor at The Herald-Times of Bloomington.\nJim McBride, manager of Bloomington's Barnes and Noble Booksellers, said the store has had a single advance copy of the book, but it's been so popular among staff that he has not had a chance to read it. He knows a little bit about it, though.\n"It's biographical; it really covers the span of his coaching life," he said. "What makes this special is that it's by Bob Knight. There have been a handful of books about Bob Knight, but this is his story."\nIn fact, the book stretches from Knight's hometown of Orrville, Ohio, through his firing from IU in 2000 to his time at Texas Tech.\nTo get a signed copy of the book, customers have to attend the signing, which starts at 6 p.m. Because of time limitations and the expected turnout, signings will not be personalized. Knight will also not sign memorabilia, McBride said.\nHe anticipates a large turnout and has been told that it would be Knight's only scheduled Bloomington appearance.
