Actor David Oyelowo, an Emmy and Golden Globe nominee best known for his roles in “Queen of Katwe” and “Selma” has joined the cast of the upcoming “Little Five” film set in Bloomington. His addition was announced by Deadline earlier this week.
Oyelowo is a British actor who started his career on the stage in the Royal Shakespeare Company and then moved to film where he has won several awards including a Critic’s Choice Award. His standout role was playing Martin Luther King Jr. In the Oscar nominated film, “Selma.”
“Little Five” is being directed by Ian Samuels and produced by Pigasus Pictures as well as Anne Hathaway’s production company, Somewhere Pictures. The movie will follow a group of young women who compete in the legendary Little 500 bike race at Indiana University in the 1980s.
Oyelowo will be acting alongside other previously revealed cast members Ariana Greenblatt, who starred in “Barbie” and “65,” and Rain Spencer, who starred in “The Summer I Turned Pretty” and “Good Girl Jane.”
Other recently announced cast members include Drew Powell (“The Pitt”), Sasha Frolova (“Little Women”), Nadia Alexander, Kate Margaret Luke and Max Cortezi. The movie is set to release in 2027.
Filming is ongoing in Bloomington this summer, with the production team bringing in Indiana locals as extras to sell the ‘80s-themed Bloomington setting on the big screen.
