Sept. 11 forum held tonight

Bloomington Chancellor Sharon Brehm will sponsor a third forum in response to the events of Sept. 11 tonight at 7 p.m. in the Moot Courtroom of the School of Law.\nThe forum, entitled "Bringing the Terrorists to Justice: Where and How Should the Prosecutions Proceed?" will include panelists from the School of Law: Professors Craig Bradley, Daniel Conkle, David Fidler and Dawn Johnsen.\nThe panelists are slated to discuss the constitutionality of President Bush's authorization of military tribunals, whether the criminal justice system can handle what prosecuting terrorists entails, whether international law constrains how the United States should respond to terrorist actions and whether the terrorists' trials should be televised.\n"The law professors will bring their expertise to help discuss these important questions facing the Bush Administration and the nation," said Johnsen, professor of Constitutional Law. "Students should be well informed about these issues."\nJohnsen worked in the Justice Department for the Clinton Administration for five years and dealt with the constitutionality of military tribunals with respect to presidential power.\nThe panel discussion is free and open to the public.
