David Horowitz's advertisement, "Ten Reasons Why Reparations for Slavery is a Bad Idea -- and Racist, Too" has thankfully sparked a campus-wide debate on reparations, which often leads to racial discussions in general.\nWhile I do not agree with all of Horowitz's 10 reasons, I don't support racial reparations. Reparations are not the best way to solve or make amends for past injustices, and all African Americans should be insulted to think that their injustices can be "bought off" by taxpayer money. My great-grandfather lost his knee while fighting a war to free slaves, and my mother's family immigrated to America more than 100 years after slavery. Why should I be paying for something others did more than 200 years ago?
Racial debate should be encouraged
