'IDS' helps bring hatemongers to Bloomington

The running of the David Horowitz ad in your paper April 13 showed poor taste and remarkable insensitivity to communities on this campus. The response by students in the form of letters, guest columns and town hall meetings shows remarkable courage and integrity. Ads such as this one lay the ground for other hatemongers to come into our community. \nCertainly Bloomington has seen enough hate in the last several years. But it is responses such as those by students and other campus leaders that block hate groups from coming here because they show that IU and Bloomington value all persons and value inclusive, not divisive, ideas.
