A 39-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday for stealing a checkbook and issuing checks. Teresa Thomas was preliminarily charged with forgery and theft. She has three outstanding warrants for theft from Monroe County, check deception from Barhtolomew county and another one from Lawrence county.\nThomas, who had been living with her 22-year-old female friend at the house of a common acquaintance since October, was questioned at her residence at 401 Parkway drive, No 5 with reference to the complaint registered by her flat-mate. She admitted her crime.\n2 arrested at motel on cocaine charges\nVincent Cardwell, 20, and Bernard Taylor, 18 were arrested at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday at Motel 6, following a complaint of three or four men being involved in a fight. \nCardwell and Taylor were picked up from the motel lobby for illegal consumption of alcohol. \nAt the booking area of the jail, upon being asked to empty his pockets for a detox test, police said Taylor spilled some white substance from his right sock. He tried to hide it in his shoe and stuff the sock in. Upon inspection, four bags of crack cocaine were found on him. \nCardwell confessed having crack cocaine hidden in his right sock. Cardwell had five bags on him. \nThe cocaine, police say, was packaged for individual sale. Both of them were charged with a Class B felony for possession of and dealing in illegal drugs.
