Hoosiers defeats Eastern Kentucky, 19-13

IU-Eastern Kentucky Football

IU defeated Eastern Kentucky 19-13 in its first game of the season.

Eastern Kentucky was withing six points with eight seconds on the clock when IU fanned down a hail mary attempt from quarterback T.J. Pryor to end the game.

The Thursday contest saw IU gain only 77 yards on the ground, forcing it to put the ball in the air. Junior quarterback Ben Chappell was 26-37 and threw for 326 yards and one touchdown. He also had two interceptions in the game.

Chappell hit sophomore wide receiver Tandon Doss on eight occassions for 125 yards.

The Colonels are a Divison I-AA team, and the Hoosiers were their first-ever Big Ten opponent.

Eastern Kentucky kept it close as IU’s four running back attack faltered throughout the game. Senior running back Darius McCray was the Hoosiers’ leader rusher with 49 yards on 13 attempts.
