Film producer to speak tonight

Filmmaking methods are constantly changing, and keeping up with increasing technology requires dedication and talent. Robert Benedetti, renowned film producer and IU alum, said he believes that films create much more than momentary entertainment. The Department of Theatre and Drama has invited Benedetti to speak on the use of digital technology in film and Hollywood ethics. He will speak in the Ruth N. Halls Theatre at 5 p.m. tonight.

Astronauts fix space station

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Making the third and final spacewalk of their mission, shuttle Atlantis' astronauts finished installing a $390 million girder on the international space station Monday. "We're over the hill," spacewalker David Wolf said midway through the 250-mile-high construction job. "I mean, over the hill on the station." "No comment," his partner, Piers Sellers, jokingly replied. Both men are in their mid to late 40s. The two astronauts arrived with the 14-ton girder aboard space shuttle Atlantis last week.

Chief Lobbyist will be missed

With a persistent, results-oriented attitude IU President Myles Brand pushed and prodded state leaders to do things his way. In a state slow to change, rocky relationships and confrontation didn't deter Brand. "He was very dogmatic in what he put his mind to. He was not very warm and fuzzy," said Indiana Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Brinegar. "He certainly clashed with folks in the state government and the state house, but he didn't seem to back away from any fights or battles if he felt it was important to maintain his position or principles."

MBA program among nation's best

Business Week has once again put the Kelley School of Business MBA program at the top of the pack. The Kelley school's masters of business administration program remained at number 20 in this year's ranking of the top MBA programs around the world. "This ranking shows that we have outstanding teaching faculty and students," said Dick McCracken, Director of MBA graduate career services. "We continue to have one of the best MBA schools in the U.S." Since 1988, Business Week has ranked the top MBA programs every two years. Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Business grabbed the No. 1 spot this year. The magazine looked at 88 business schools around the globe. The 2002 results came from the opinions of 219 corporate recruiters and 11,518 business students.

Sniper kills Virginia woman

FALLS CHURCH, Va. -- A woman was killed outside a Home Depot store Monday night, and police were trying to determine whether the shooting was related to the sniper spree responsible for eight deaths in the region in the past 12 days.

Hit the road with helmets

According to Indiana Code 7.1-3-10-5 Sec. 5, it's illegal for a liquor store to sell milk. It's also illegal for a liquor store to sell cold soft drinks, and don't even try to purchase beer from a store on Sunday.

'Deja vu all over again'

Consumer confidence dips
