Nancy Comiskey, a faculty member in the School of Journalism and a former interim publisher of the Indiana Daily Student, received word Tuesday no mother should ever have to hear. She learned at Bloomington Hospital that her daughter, Kate, a 2002 IU graduate, died in a traffic accident on North Walnut Street.

Author analyzes Holocaust denial

Author Ayal Rosenberg told members of the Helene G. Simon Hillel Center Tuesday night remembering the Holocaust is important for today's young generations in spite of recent trends of Holocaust denial and fatigue. The author visited the IU campus as part of a lecture on his new book "Denial." Rosenberg, a resident of South Africa and former Israeli soldier, said Jews have a far different view than ancient Greek Epicurians, who believed that history is meaningless and that the future is what matters.

Protesters meet counter-protest on campus

Anti-gay and anti-abortion protesters clashed with Bloomington United and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender representatives in front of the IU School of Law Tuesday afternoon. Members of the Old Paths Baptist Church of Indiana came to IU with posters featuring aborted fetuses and anti-gay slogans.

WASHINGTON -- Attorney General John Ashcroft, a favorite of conservatives, and Commerce Secretary Don Evans, one of President George W. Bush's closest friends, resigned Tuesday, the first members of the Cabinet to leave as Bush heads from re-election into his second term.

Instead his world is a whimsical, woodsy wonderland, where a vegetarian spider teaches lessons of love and friendship. Author David Kirk is the creator of the popular Miss Spider series of children's books, which have sold close to 5 million copies since 1994. Senior ready to bounce back from knee injury

After sitting out two seasons because of medical redshirts, senior Jamie Gathing was awarded a sixth year of eligibility for the 2004-05 season by the NCAA. The Kankakee, Ill., native will rejoin a Hoosier lineup this year that features 11 returning letter winners from last season.

Team looks to avenge earlier loss to Boilers

The IU volleyball team (8-17, 2-12 Big Ten) looks to bounce back from two consecutive losses this weekend when it faces in-state rival Purdue tonight. The Hoosiers dropped matches to both Michigan State and Michigan this weekend in Bloomington.
