US finds 13 civilians died in Afghanistan strike

An operation the American military at first described as a "precision strike" instead killed 13 Afghan civilians and only three militants, the United States said Saturday, three days after sending a general to the site to investigate.

English professor Scott Russell Sanders will premiere his latest book, “A Conservationist Manifesto,” during “An Evening with Scott Russell Sanders” from 5 to 7 p.m. today at FARMbloomington in a night full of local music, local food and a message of local sustainability.

Paranormal Fest 'lays out evidence'

Enthusiasts of the paranormal, abnormal and supernatural gathered Saturday at Crump Theatre in Columbus, Ind., to share their experiences with the occult at Paranormal Fest.


Deborah Deckard gives Bloomington resident Judy Clouers a pedicure Wednesday evening at the Macy’s Salon. Deckard toured in Iraq and Afghanistan and after recently returning from her second tour of duty, returned to work at the salon.
