Festival brings baroque, medieval sounds to town

The Bloomington Early Music Festival, now in its sixteenth year, started May 15 and will continue through Memorial Day, featuring soloists and ensembles that perform in concerts, operas and educational workshops for younger children.

IU becomes college sports headquarters

Founded 35 years ago, the Associated Press Sports Editors is the nation’s largest professional-sports journalism organization, including more than 550 members who are top online sports executives and from newspapers across the nation. The Associated Press Sports Editors will place its first official home at IU’s new National Sports Journalism Center on the campus of IU-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Obama nominee opposed by many GOP state senators

INDIANAPOLIS — Thirty-one Republican state senators have asked U.S. Sens. Evan Bayh and Dick Lugar to oppose the nomination of an Indiana University law professor nominated by President Barack Obama for a senior position in the U.S. Department of Justice.




Sophomore first baseman Jerrud Sabourin hits a game winning two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to win the game against Michigan State  on Wednesday afternoon at Sembower Field.

IU takes series, 3rd place in conference for Big Ten

IU wanted to maximize its conference standing and provide key players with rest heading into this week’s Big Ten Tournament, and it accomplished both goals by winning two of three games against Michigan State to end the regular season Saturday.


Riders start the 25K and 50K bike ride during the Coach Hep Cancer Challenge on Saturday morning at the Mellencamp Pavilion. Participants raised money by riding in a 25,- 50- or 100- kilometer bike ride, a 2K walk or a 5K run.

Crean looks to raise stakes
