Column: Hoosier Valentine

It’s not easy to tell somebody how you feel about them. Love, lust or aggravation — sometimes the right gift can communicate everything you want to say. On the brink of IU’s most successful regular season record in four years, I thought it fitting to give a few Hoosiers Valentine’s presents.

Pole vaulter Kelsie Ahbe fills role of leader, record setter

Humility is not commonly found in high-profile athletes, but junior pole vaulter Kelsie Ahbe contradicts that notion. Ahbe recently broke the indoor school record in the pole vault, previously set by alumna Vera Neuenswander.

IU beats Maryland late for 5th place finish

The No. 9 Hoosiers trailed No. 17 Maryland by two goals entering the final quarter of the Triton Invitational on Sunday. Due to a five-goal performance in the final stanza, however, the Hoosiers defeated the Terrapins and claimed fifth place in the tournament in La Jolla, Calif., with an 11-10 victory.
