Hoosiers look to right ship

For the first time all season, every one of the Hoosiers' opponents this weekend will be unranked. None of the teams have ever beaten IU, but the Hoosiers are not taking things lightly. Coming off of a loss to No. 6 California, the No. 9 Hoosiers hope to rebound when they head east to start the College Water Polo Association Western Division play.

Hoosiers fall in Bennett's final game

INDIANAPOLIS -- The opener to the Big Ten Tournament that pitted IU against Wisconsin showed exactly why March is known for its "madness." In a game that featured 10 ties and 11 lead changes -- all occurring after the 11-minute mark in the second half -- the final lead change proved to be the demise for the Hoosiers as they fell 75-74 to Wisconsin in double overtime. Even though IU managed to get to the second overtime, it almost didn't happen.

Team looks to build on fall success for spring championship

The men's golf team heads into the spring season this weekend with one goal: to focus on its game and let the rest fall into place. "Our main goal is to be focused, disciplined and to have mental control," said IU coach Mike Mayer. "If we do this, we will play up to our ability and the results will fall into place."

Struggling Hoosiers go back to basics to find success

After winning only one of four games last weekend in Tulsa, the IU softball team hopes to rebound this weekend in the Western Kentucky Invitational. Last weekend, three of the Hoosiers' four games were decided by two runs or less.

Ballclub expects 4 wins in Gent Classic

After the Hoosiers' Wednesday game against Butler was postponed due to inclement weather, IU will be traveling south this weekend for the Gent Classic. The team heads to Shreveport, La., to play Centenary and Little-Rock Arkansas twice.

Big Ten season gets no easier for IU

For the IU men's tennis team, there is little time for rest. Coming off a brutal pre-conference schedule laden with ranked opponents, the Hoosiers begin their Big Ten season with two more ranked teams, as they face No. 3 Illinois and No. 66 Penn State this weekend at the IU Tennis Center.

Trip to NCAAs on the line in Iowa City tourney

This is the time of year that senior Pat DeGain looks forwards to most. The regular season is finished -- a success by all accounts. He was just the third Hoosier ever to take first at the Midlands Championships, and the 11th to notch 100 career victories. But this Saturday, those accolades will be meaningless when the whistle blows on the opening of the Big Ten Championships in Iowa City.

Bennett, seniors end careers with tough loss

As time expired in the second overtime of the Hoosiers' first-round loss to Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament, so did the career of IU coach Kathi Bennett. IU's 75-74 double-overtime loss to the Badgers Thursday afternoon put an end to Bennett's five-year run with the Hoosiers.

Wilson named Athlete of the Year in the Big Ten

Last weekend's Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships saw the Hoosiers score their highest team finish in more than a decade. Junior Aarik Wilson spearheaded IU's second-place effort winning both the long and triple jumps. Wilson defeated 2004's indoor long-jump champion and vaulted into the national lead in the triple jump by almost half a meter in the process.

Cheeks says goodbye, Pritchard to take over

Roberts ends 7-year run with IU Late in IU's win against Purdue at Assembly Hall, many Hoosier fans were introduced to a nickname that's been around for years. When Assembly Hall public address announcer Chuck Crabb announced senior Mike Roberts' name when Roberts entered the game, Crabb said, "The boss -- Mike Roberts."

Women's basketball coach to leave after 5 seasons

After three straight losing seasons, IU women's basketball coach Kathi Bennett will step down at the end of the season. Bennett will remain coach through the Big Ten Tournament. The Hoosiers play Wisconsin at 3 p.m. Thursday at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis against Wisconsin.

Hoosiers face off against in-state rival Butler

After a weekend at the Service Academics Classic in Millington, Tenn., where IU came out 2-1, the Hoosiers come home to face Butler, scheduled for a 3 p.m. start today at Sembower Field. All eyes will be on senior outfielder and pitcher Joe Kemp as he tries to extend his 2004 hitting streak to 12 games. Last week Kemp was named Big Ten Conference Player of the Week. In the four games the Hoosiers have played, Kemp went 6-for-17 -- a .353 batting average -- including two home runs, seven RBIs and five runs scored.

Sonics sharpshoot Pacers for win

INDIANAPOLIS -- Rashard Lewis had 30 points on 14-of-19 shooting and the Seattle SuperSonics rallied in the fourth quarter for a 101-93 victory against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night.

Experts: Settlement makes sense for Kobe

DENVER -- Experts believe a settlement between Kobe Bryant and the woman who has accused him of rape makes the most sense for both sides because it allows them to avoid a potentially embarrassing trial that would bring out intimate details of their lives. ABC News Radio reported Tuesday that the NBA star and his 20-year-old accuser have reached an agreement in principle, with a settlement possible as early as this week.

Hoosiers' struggles continue as team finishes 15th of 15
