Slumping Hoosiers looking for victory

Time is ticking…fast. As the IU softball team gets set for a road trip to visit Ohio State and Penn State, they find themselves in desperate need of a win if they are to qualify for the Big Ten tournament. The top eight teams in the conference advance to postseason play and with six games remaining in the regular season, the Hoosiers are currently in last place with a conference record of 1-13 and a 21-28 overall record.

While most trips between Indiana and Mexico begin in Indianapolis and end south of the border, this weekend a group of young athletes will do the exact opposite. The Mexican Under-20 team, known as El Tricolores, will arrive in the Hoosier state to take on both Notre Dame and IU this weekend.

Hoosiers travel to Columbus for Big Tens

The IU men’s golf team will travel to Columbus, Ohio, today for the three-day Big 10 Tournament. The competition will consist of a total of four rounds, with 36 holes played today and 18 played on both Saturday and Sunday.

Hoosiers drop 8th straight game

Tracy Smith’s ball club had been looking for a win since April 15. But Miami University of Ohio dealt the Hoosiers their eighth loss in a row following a 10-1 loss to the Redhawks, as victory no. 15 eluded IU Tuesday night.

Track teams compete in running of Drake Relays

The 98th running of the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa this weekend will play host to the Hoosier track and field squads as they look to fill that bus headed for the NCAA Mideast Regional the weekend of May 25 and 26.

Hoosiers looking for second defeat of Hawkeyes

Thirty-one days ago, the Iowa men’s tennis team left Bloomington with a disappointing 6-1 loss to IU. At 3 p.m. today, the Hawkeyes (8-12, 1-9 Big Ten) have another shot at the No. 67 Hoosiers (14-11, 4-6 Big Ten) in the first round of the Big Ten Championships in West Lafayette.

Table tennis club looks to expand

Every weekend, college students across the country put pingpong balls to good use – by tossing them into plastic cups full of beer. However, the IU Table Tennis Club knows pingpong balls offer other uses besides drinking games and knows they can bring bigger victories, too.
