We knew Victor Oladipo could make it onto a highlight reel easier than a freshman with five dollars getting into a Villas party. This season, the Maryland native needs to improve on his decision making and the diversification of his game.

5-foot-2 libero packs powerful energy, brings team more honors

During the weekend, senior libero Caitlin Cox passed Juli Pierce to become IU’s all-time digs leader with a total of 1,569 digs. To add to her new record, Cox also earned the Co-Defensive Big Ten Player of the Week and Hoosier Classic MVP honors this weekend.

Senior linebacker Leon Beckum serves as an example of how close the linebackers are as a unit. Senior middle linebacker Jeff Thomas and Beckum have been good friends for a while, but younger players like freshman linebacker Chase Hoobler became fast friends with the older players.

Team suffers first defeat of season

The IU field hockey team faltered for the first time this season, falling in back-to-back away games on a West Coast road trip. On Friday, they fell to No. 16 Stanford 3-2, then lost two days later to California 3-1.

Purdie powers Hoosiers

Senior forward Alec Purdie scored three goals for the weekend, powering his team to wins against Bucknell and Denver for the tournament title.







Football vs. Virginia

IU gauges Virginia loss, prepares for next week

Virginia’s senior defensive end Cam Johnson sacked Wright-Baker and forced a fumble with 1:13 remaining in the game. The Cavaliers recovered at the IU 14-yard line. They ran down the clock and kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired to secure a 34-31 victory, spoiling a 21-point fourth-quarter IU comeback.
