Experts: Settlement makes sense for Kobe

DENVER -- Experts believe a settlement between Kobe Bryant and the woman who has accused him of rape makes the most sense for both sides because it allows them to avoid a potentially embarrassing trial that would bring out intimate details of their lives. ABC News Radio reported Tuesday that the NBA star and his 20-year-old accuser have reached an agreement in principle, with a settlement possible as early as this week.

ESPN shows Charlotte loss 'a mistake'

MADISON, Wis. -- If the Hoosiers' recent string of success before Tuesday's loss at Wisconsin wasn't an indicator that things were going IU's way come March, then ESPN helped the team out a bit. During the first television timeout of Tuesday's telecast of the IU-Wisconsin game, broadcasters Brent Musberger and Steve Lavin reviewed the controversial 3-point buzzer beater by Charlotte Dec. 22 at Assembly Hall.

No. 1 seed IU hockey heads to nationals in Michigan

The seniors on the IU club hockey team played their last home game Friday night, but their careers are not over yet. The 21-8-2 team leaves today for the American Collegiate Hockey Association DII Nationals in Rochester, Mich.

Broadcaster Enberg comes back to IU

When John Brogneux was a professor heading the student teaching program at IU in 1960, Dick Enberg was one of his subjects. Brogneux, now 27 years retired at the age of 94, recalls fond memories of Enberg and understands why he is a success in the broadcasting business.

Court swarmed as IU upsets Spartans

It started with a simple pat on the arm. When Pat Ewing Jr. checked in late in the second half Sunday, he received the encouragement from IU Athletics Director Rick Greenspan. Moments later, with 42.1 seconds left in regulation and IU down 62-64, Ewing forced a turnover by Michigan State's Chris Hill, giving the Hoosiers the ball and the momentum.

IU takes 2 in Service Academy Classic

Hoosiers take 2nd in Big Tens

The men's track team did everything it could to contend for the Big Ten Indoor Track title this weekend. As consolation, the team notched its highest finish since 1992's conference title with a runner-up effort Saturday and Sunday.

Hoosiers fall to Iowa in season finale

Softball's offensive woes continue in Tulsa tournament The IU women's softball team hoped to rebound from two consecutive losses when it headed to Tulsa, Okla., for the Holiday Inn-Select Tulsa Festival this past weekend. Unfortunately, the Hoosiers came away with only one victory in their four games as their offense continued to struggle.

IU loses in 2nd round of tough tourney

IU's No. 6 water polo team started the weekend off on a strong note, beating Cal State-San Bernardino 14-4. Freshman center Carolyn Conway posted the team's first goal 24 seconds into the game. By halftime, IU had jumped out to an 11-2 advantage. Conway and senior attacker Krista Peterson accounted for most of the scoring -- each finishing with a hat trick.

Hoosiers drop 2nd in a row

The IU men's tennis team has had close match after close match this spring, and right now, the close ones aren't falling the Hoosiers' way. The latest close contest came Sunday at the IU Tennis Center, as IU was downed by No. 17 Vanderbilt, 4-2.

Scary 2nd half ruins IU's upset attempt

As much as IU has tried to get away from nightmarish halves in conference play, the Hoosiers were haunted again last night in the second half. IU's most recent episode resulted in a 52-35 loss to No. 15 Minnesota Thursday, only hitting three of their 27 shots after the break. The Hoosiers' 35 points stand as the second fewest allowed by Minnesota in their history.
