Get ready for 'Harry Potter'
I coached baseball this summer. I would arrive early before practice, sit in the dugout in my solitude and restlessly read "Harry Potter," a genuine page-turner. And when it was time for practice to begin and the boys and girls came running onto the field with their gloves and their bats, they had no intention of playing baseball. They wanted me to read them "Harry Potter."
Boycott crap TV -- watch Comedy Central
They tell me the new fall TV season is underway. I really wouldn't know. Network TV lost me a long time ago. Today, it seems, prime-time opportunities go to either has-beens who have flopped out of the movie business (Jim Belushi, Damon Wayans, Keifer Sutherland, Geena Davis, Charlie Sheen ... the list is endless and depressing) or hyperactive chefs.
Steppin' Up
Brotherhood generates this homemade music. It would sound different if one member were missing. That's the point: It's all or nothing. Six Alpha Phi Alpha members meet on a dance court almost every night to fine tune stepping, a traditional African American dance staged within black fraternities and sororities.

Bloomington offers numerous kinds of cheap entertainment fun
College students are notorious for being poor. So when one has limited funds, what is there to do for entertainment? Not to worry -- Bloomington has plenty to keep its students happy. The Indiana Memorial Union is a good place to start. The IMU offers many possibilities, says LaTasha Swanson, Union Board public relations director.
Halloween hits campus
In last-ditch efforts to find the "Great Pumpkin," picking through the nearly bare shelves of Target and KMart for a costume and finding enough time to finish schoolwork and still go out, members of the IU community are preparing for tonight's festival of ghosts, goblins and ghouls.

GENEVA -- The U.N. health agency said Tuesday that it fears there may be an outbreak of a deadly form of malaria in eastern Afghanistan.
Local wineries on the rise
A couple stands in front of the tasting bar at Butler Winery exchanging wine stories with the owner and winemaker. She is swirling the semi-sweet wine, Indiana Blush, around in a stemmed glass. He is leaning against the bar, casually sipping the dry wine, White Select. With the average price of wine raging between $8 and $16, both wines the couple chose are moderately priced at $8.95 per bottle.

Unlock the myth of dating
These days, I find it nearly impossible to conduct a dating relationship at the college level without being utterly confused, completely baffled and in constant bewilderment. When it comes to exchanges between girls and guys who border on more than just friends, you can expect to wonder if your phone will ring and to be left feeling out of control of the situation. If you have been on a date in the past millennium, you understand.
