Tiger keeps on rolling at Firestone

AKRON, Ohio -- Tiger Woods celebrated his 10-year anniversary of turning pro Sunday by winning for the 52nd time on the PGA Tour, making an 8-foot birdie putt on the fourth playoff hole against Stewart Cink to win the Bridgestone Invitational.

After losing seven seniors from last season, the No. 10 Hoosiers found a solution to their potential problem by replacing them with seven freshmen. With its combination of young and old players, the IU field hockey team split the first two games of its season.

Israel: Behind the headlines

It is one of our greatest challenges as students, and as Americans, to read beyond the headlines and push through the propaganda-filled media that we are exposed to on a daily basis. Educating ourselves on a broad range of facts will help individuals formulate their own informed opinions amongst the cluttered media and ever-shifting situation in the Middle East. In order to understand America's support of Israel in its fight against terrorist organizations, we must examine the current crisis with a historical perspective and establish the endgame for each side in this conflict.

Residential Programs and Services began this school year by launching a campaign of posters warning students about the dangers of using Facebook.com as a means of displaying personal information and as a social forum. Some of the main concerns of the group are that employers search the site for information on potential employees and that, on a scarier note, stalkers may use the site as a means to track down victims.

The morning after FDA approval

In a landmark decision for proponents of greater sexual freedom, the Food and Drug Administration approved Plan B, the morning-after pill, for nonprescription use by women 18 years of age and older, Thursday. In the coming months, Plan B will become available in pharmacies across the country for purchase at the counter after a thorough check of a photo ID. Men can purchase the drug for their partners as well.

Fox journalists released in Gaza hostage case

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip -- Militants freed two Fox News journalists Sunday, ending a nearly two week hostage drama. One of the former captives said they were sometimes held face down in a dark garage, tied up in painful positions and forced at gunpoint to make videos and say they had converted to Islam.

49 dead in Kentucky plane crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A commuter jet crashed during take off early Sunday and burst into flames, killing 49 people and leaving the lone survivor in critical condition. Investigators were trying to determine if the plane was on the wrong runway and ran out of pavement.

UPDATE: 6 intoxicated students hospitalized

IU Police Department officers ordinarily issue more citations and deal with an increased number of dangerously intoxicated students during Welcome Week, but Wednesday night was unlike any IUPD officers had seen in a long time.

UPDATE: Men's soccer wins weekend tourney

The IU men's soccer team opened the season on a successful note with two victories at the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament. The Hoosiers defeated No. 8 Creighton University 1-0 Friday night and the University of Alabama at Birmingham 2-1 Sunday.
