WonderLab's Fourth Annual Honey Harvest Weekend attracted several Bloomington families Saturday and Sunday, which included everything from tasting honey to trying on a beekeeper's suit and IU students played a major part in running the special program.

BCBG, Perry Ellis christen New York Fashion Week runways

NEW YORK -- New York Fashion Week opened with more substance than style Friday. Instead of Kenneth Cole leading the seasonal previews as he usually does with his celebrity-packed show, menswear brands John Bartlett and Perry Ellis were the first to present their spring 2007 clothes in quiet, almost subdued runway shows, followed by BCBG Max Azria, which dotted its front row with starlets, including Carmen Electra and Kelly Rowland.

Students plan return to Brazil for mission trip

Junior Laura Fonseca sat waiting for the bus to the supplemental school where she was teaching on Manguinhos, an island off Salvador, Brazil. She ended up with a long wait, as the bus never showed up and didn't for the rest of the week.

$500,000 grant to go toward math majors

High-need schools in Indiana will soon see the benefits of a grant IU received early this month. The University has accepted about a half million dollar grant, which will be awarded in the form of scholarships to future math teachers.

To celebrate the 100-year settlement in Indiana of Impressionistic artist T.C. Steele, the T.C. Steele Historic Society in Nashville, Ind., is kicking off the 2006 Great Outdoor Art Contest Saturday.

About 80 Little 500 riders spoke in unanimous opposition to an IU Student Foundation initiative that would prohibit nonstudent coaches from being in the pits on race day. Almost 60 riders attended a meeting Wednesday and about 20 attended a meeting Thursday to address the IUSF "Student Coaching Initiative." The rider's forums were hosted by alumni coaches -- individuals coaching Little 500 teams who are not undergraduate Bloomington students. The IUSF initiative only permits undergraduate Bloomington campus students to coach in the pits on race day. The new rule takes effect for the race this spring.

1 month remaining to register to vote

The voter registration deadline is quickly approaching for this year's general election. The last day citizens can register to vote in Indiana is Tuesday, Oct. 10. Residents who voted in Monroe County during the last election and have not since changed their addresses retain their eligibility and simply have to show up at their precinct polling place Nov. 7 or cast an absentee ballot by Nov. 6.

3,000 IU Mini Marathon runners ready, set for weekend full of events

After serving in Guam, Singapore, Japan and Australia during six years of service in the Navy, junior Eric Rogers finds himself striving to prove his endurance in Bloomington. "I want to run a mini (marathon) to prove I can do it," Rogers said. "And it's helping a good cause."

Political pokes: Candidates now on Facebook

As hundreds of thousands of college students across the country protest the Facebook News Feed, another recently introduced feature has gone largely unnoticed. A new election feature allows politicians to interact with younger voters. Students can also let all of their friends know who they support.

Fittingly, Dumars slips into Hall of Fame

DETROIT - Joe Dumars is going into the Basketball Hall of Fame just as he played -- under the radar. Making all the noise, drawing all the attention Friday night will be two other inductees -- Charles Barkley and Dominique Wilkins. Barkley, no doubt, will have the most entertaining speech. Wilkins will monopolize the highlight tapes.
