The longest day of my life

·

Ah, summer — the greatest of the four seasons. It’s the sweet nudge of warm air breezing through your open window to wake you in the morning. It’s the smell of chlorine, sunscreen and “grassoline” — the alluring aroma of a freshly mown lawn. It’s a wavy mirage floating up and away from a baked asphalt road. It’s a version of freedom. Just think of all the possibilities.

·

The other person removed from the room was Rep. Lisa Brown. She was sent out after she used the word, uh, “vagina.” Ew, I just got shivers, did you? I just get so flustered when women use the “V” word. It’s like, gross and uncomfortable.

The road to London just got a little shorter for former IU diver Christina Loukas. The former All-American and 2009 NCAA Champion scored 317.46 points in the women’s three-meter springboard semifinals Wednesday and sits in second place heading into Saturday’s finals at the USA Diving Olympic Trials, held at the Weyerhauser Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.

Alumni

Alumnus remembers 1962 political climate

·

The year of 1962 marked the construction of the Berlin Wall and the haze of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Alumni took the time to reflect on that era and celebrate the 50th anniversary of their graduation.

Coach Hep

5 years after his death, Coach Hep remembered for vision

·

On a foggy Bloomington night in June, two beacons shine brightly through the mist. They are the towers that form the North End Zone complex at Memorial Stadium, and they serve as just that: a memorial to a man who has been absent for five years. A man who never saw the towers built.
