County council candidacy filled after death

Cheryl Munson, an assistant scientist in IU’s anthropology department, will be officially appointed Friday to run in Sophia Travis’ place for the Monroe County Council. Travis, who suffered from a heart condition, died at about 11 p.m. Sept. 19 in her home on Fluck Mill Road.

Now, Blair is the head advocate for Senate Concurrent Resolution 7, commonly referred to as the Jennifer Act, which compelled the General Assembly’s Commission on Mental Health and Addiction to study involuntary commitment of persons with substance use disorders.
