With a mix of computer slide shows and short, calm answers, Gates sought to rebut the arguments of nine states that have asked a court to further punish Microsoft for operating an illegal monopoly that hurt competitors and consumers.
Abercrombie pulls T-shirts from shelves

The ASU is one organization among many in the Asian-American community nationwide upset over T-shirts the clothing company produced that portrayed men with slanted eyes and conk-shaped hats.
INS ruling could affect IU students
The events of Sept. 11 have spurred Immigration and Naturalization Services to change many visa policies, potentially affecting thousands of students who come to the U.S. without a student visa. The changes come in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks and the bungling of several cases by the INS, including the automatic mailing of final visa status change notification to the flight school that trained Mohamed Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi, two of the suspected terrorists who perished in the attacks.
Female student attacked
A female student notified University police early Monday morning that she was the victim of a battery. According to official reports, the incident occurred on the south side of North Woodlawn Avenue at 4:15 a.m. The victim, 21, stated she was walking from her car to her residence when a white male walking toward her struck her on the right side of her face with a beer bottle he held in his hand.
