Midtown is 'living well'

Living Well is the Best Revenge
Midtown
MCA/Drive-Thru Records Midtown plays punk-influenced rock and roll. The songs are short, fast, catchy and they just plain rock. This isn't the fluff of punk boy bands, such as Sum 41 and New Found Glory. This album's appeal is the music, not the image. The album is well played and well thought-out. Producer mastermind Mark Trombino, who has worked with bands such as Jimmy Eat World and Blink-182, played an important role in bringing the songs to this level. There are some layered guitars here and the band plays tighter than a clenched buttcheek. The highlights are "Like a Movie," a sing-along that is sure to be the single, "One Last Time," a Weezer-like tune that sounds like it was written by Rivers Cuomo himself, and "Find Comfort in Yourself," which guaranteed will have you tapping your foot, nodding your head, playing imaginary drums or whatever else you do when listening to music. By the way, did I mention that this CD is super catchy? The lyrical theme of the album seems to be trust. The majority of the songs are about finding trust, losing trust, already having trust and pretty much any other connotation you could ever possibly fathom about the word trust. By the end of the album, I was so sick of hearing the same things over and over, I was ready to take a baseball bat to my stereo. Someone should really tell these guys that they wasted 40 minutes of my time by repeating themselves. Although this CD is really fun, you'll probably get sick of it in a couple weeks. But for a couple weeks, this is a perfect summertime CD to put on and enjoy at the pool or in your car.
