Tis the season, again. No, not for stockings, presents and mistletoe, but instead for pre-freshman and parents with their red and white orientation bags. Once again campus is being invaded by mass hordes of confused parents and their oblivious offspring. You know who I'm talking about -- legions of 'will-be' students who follow five feet behind by their parents.

Evil exists in the world. As blatant of a fact as this is, liberals tend to deny it, calling evil 'culture' instead and labeling those who oppose this evil-minded 'culture' as imperialistic, racist and intolerant.

Why are kids so violent?

Working with the Children's Reading Program at a local library has taught me three important life lessons. One: I look like Harry Potter. Two: Kids will kill, cheat and say they like broccoli to win a paper bag filled with almost worthless coupons. Three: If I die and come back reincarnated as a three-foot-tall stuffed replica of Barney the purple dinosaur, I will know without a doubt that I must have done something terrible in this life.

Jimmy John's manager creates Web site for scholarships

Nick Beardsley sat in a wooden chair inside Jimmy John's on Kirkwood Avenue and sagged his shoulders slightly. Beardsley, the burly, six-foot-tall assistant manager of the restaurant, recalled his unfruitful past attempts to get scholarships.

Exhibit 'realizes the dream'

An award-winning black history exhibit is on display in the Indiana Memorial Union's East Lounge until June 25. The display entitled, "The Black Experience at Indiana University: Realizing the Dream 1816-2002," was originally produced for the opening of the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center. The exhibit will receive a silver medal from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education at an annual international conference in July.

Hasbro to correct 'Pyle' of mistakes

Hasbro's G.I. JOE D-Day collection hit the shelves two weeks ago and included a 12-inch, $20 action figure of former IU student and IDS editor in chief Ernie Pyle, who was a Scripps Howard reporter and war correspondent during World War II. According to the biographical information on the back of the box, Pyle also attended Indiana State University and left before his senior year in 1923, when he actually left IU the January of his senior year.
